Description
A Convenient, Accurate Tool for Circle and Arc Layout Woodpeckers Pocket Compass outshines a traditional divider-style compass in a woodworking shop. Dividers only need a slight nudge to change the setting and ruin your layout. The pivot point comes to the stock at an angle, so it tends to skate out of position. And, those sharp legs always seem to find their way through your pocket looking to draw blood. Woodpeckers engineers designed the Pocket Compass to safely fit in your pocket and deliver accurate curve layouts. The original model draws circles from 1″ to 7″, and takes up as much room in your pocket as a butane lighter. It was wildly popular in its first appearance as a OneTime TOOL, but a lot of customers asked for one with more capacity, so now we have two models, the original and the Pocket Compass XL, with a range from 2″ to 21″. Woodpeckers Pocket Compass works similarly to a traditional beam compass, except, the beam of the Pocket Compass rests on the surface of your work. That means you’re not trying to balance the whole tool on two sharp points. Simply adjust the two-piece body to your desired measurement, remove the stainless-steel pivot pin from its storage port, spot it into your axis point, drop a pencil through the correct hole and draw your arc. Since the tool is lying flat on your work, you can get a new grip any time you need without losing your place. Gravity is working with you instead of against you. Woodpeckers carefully machines the Pocket Compass on its state-of-the-art CNC mills, then anodize the surface in the familiar Woodpecker Red” color. The anodizing isn’t just for looks. It protects the surface from corrosion and wear. Finally, it laser engraves both inch and metric graduations to an accuracy of .004″ total accumulated error over the length of the scale. The Pocket Compass and Pocket Compass XL are available spearately, but if you want both sizes, a 2-Piece Set is available! Like all Woodpeckers products, Pocket Compass and Pocket Compass XL are precisely machined and carefully inspected in its Strongsville, Ohio facility just south of Cleveland. These former OneTime TOOLs have joined Woodpeckers always-available permanent line-up.
